Being organized creates a sense of calm and well being. I have to admit—I get edgy when I’m surrounded by disarray and clutter. So, when it came to designing a new
office space,
I knew exactly what I wanted and was certain it could be configured to heighten my productivity. We started with the height of the desktops. Since I use both a laptop and desktop on a daily basis, I wanted the keyboards to be ergonomically positioned to prevent neck and back pain. The
bi-level desktops
work beautifully, and I can comfortably swivel between the two.
Flash drives, binder clips and pens can migrate around the desk if not contained. Concerned that a
drawer under the desktop would restrict movement, we placed the drawer above the desktop. This configuration allows for a wider drawer and the contents are easily reached from either position. A welcome addition to my work space has been

Like most
offices, there is a wide range of responsibilities that require attention on a daily basis. We designed cubbies that separate my paperwork by task making it much easier to find exactly what I’m looking for, every time. Though we have terabytes of data saved digitally, there are still documents that require keeping a hard copy. I chose
with full extension slides so that I would have maximum visibility to my job folders.
Behind beautiful cabinet doors reside all the necessities to keep the office humming. From ink cartridges to label makers, surplus supplies are better kept concealed—less visual clutter increases the ability to focus. Which brings us back to why we create a personalized office in the first place…focus, creativity and productivity.
